Job summary

MISC Group is seeking a Senior Vetting Inspector under its Integrated Marine Services arm. The role focuses on safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations by conducting ship screening, vetting inspections, and audits, ensuring compliance with international rules and COMPANY standards.

Required are 5+ years aboard tankers with at least 2 years in senior roles or OCIMF SIRE accreditation, plus COC Class 1 Deck Officer or Marine Engineer Officer qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience serving on board tankers, including 2 years in senior position or OCIMF SIRE accreditation.
• COC Class 1 Deck Officer or Marine Engineer Officer for specified vessel size/power

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and conduct annual scheduling inspection of ships for operational, maintenance, HSSE and manning conditions.
• Evaluate observations and recommend vessel suitability per IMO and COMPANY standards.
• Screen vessels using VIS2.0 and OCIMF/PSC data to assess suitability.
• Review SIRE/BIRE reports and align with VIS2.0 data and OCIMF database.
• Maintain vessel databases with ships' profile information.
• Conduct performance audits on term-chartered vessels and report to internal stakeholders.
• Develop inspection and audit plans and coordinate with ship owners/operators.
• Propose corrective actions for non-conformances and prepare observation reports.
• Monitor and update vetting manuals to ISO 9001:2015.
• Provide expert advice on ship regulatory requirements and procedures.

Job description

This role resides under Marine Services (the Integrated Marine Services arm of MISC Group).

THE JOB

Attain and accomplish COMPANY' objective of safe, efficient and cost-effective operations in COMPANY Group of Companies by providing quality marine expertise and ensure continuous enforcement of the PTS, Maritime policies, procedures and guidelines on proper control and utilization of the vessels by conducting ship screening, vetting inspection and audit as requested by clients.

• Plan, manage and conduct annual scheduling inspection of the ship to appraise its operational, maintenance, HSSE aspects and manning conditions and capabilities.
• Evaluate, determine and analyse the inspection observation to recommend on the suitability of the vessels for COMPANY use and to ensure its compliance with International Maritime Rules and Regulations (IMO) and COMPANY technical standards.
• Responsible to conduct screening through analysing vessels information system (VIS2.0) including database on Port State Control (PSC), Classification Society (Class), OCIMF and others to recommend suitability of vessel for use.
• Review inspection report (SIRE/BIRE) submitted by the inspector and confirm the information is in line with information in VIS2.0 and OCIMF database.
• Maintain and update vessels' database where all ships profile information is captured and stored for reference.
• Conduct a performance audit on term chartered vessels and provide audit reports to internal customers such as PCML, PDB, PETCO, MLNG and etc.
• Responsible to develop inspection, audit execution plans, and communicate with ship owners/operators/managers to ensure smooth and efficient work execution without operational interruption.
• Advise and recommend corrective actions/solutions to Management and Client on any non-conformance on the inspection findings for mitigation by preparing observation reports for ship owners/operators/managers.
• Monitor, review and update ship vetting manuals to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015
• Provide expert advice on ship regulatory requirements, best practice and operating procedures to internal and external customers.

THE PERSON

• Minimum 5 years' experience serving on board tankers, of which minimum 2 years in the senior position / meet min. requirement by OCIMF to be a SIRE accredited inspector.
• Certificate of Competency (COC) Class 1 for Deck Officer for vessel of 3000 GRT or more, OR
• Certificate of Competency (COC) Class 1 for Marine Engineer Officer for vessel of 3000KW or more
