Job summary

Ascentec Engineering Malaysia is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support CNC programming, fixture design and process improvements at Batu Kawan, Penang.

You will read blueprints, apply GD&T, develop tooling, and collaborate with multiple departments to optimize costing and manufacturing quality. Experience with Mastercam/Siemens NX and 3-axis/5-axis CNC is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
• Hands-on operations experience in precision machining and assembly.
• 3–5 years related CNC programming experience with CAM software (Mastercam/Siemens NX preferred).
• Experience with 3-axis & 5-axis CNC machines and milling/turning tools.
• Experience in fixtures design and post-process editing of posts.
• Ability to multi-task with strong organizational and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Support project transfer activities from parent company (program, fixture, work instruction, tooling).
• Collaborate with departments to optimize costing and processes.
• Provide technical input/solutions to resolve issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing, manuals, specifications; draw fixtures/tools using CAD.
• Create CNC programs (manual and CAM) and maintain/improve legacy programs.
• Understand GD&T and apply it during programming.
• Select tooling/fixtures for per-job applications based on material/geometry/tolerances/equipment capability.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and procedures.
• Monitor changes to CNC programs and provide manufacturing process/tooling support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts individually or in teams; assist management as needed.

Job description

Support project transfer activities (program, fixture, work instruction, tooling, etc) from parent company.

Work closely with other departments in optimizing costing and processes.

Provide technical input/solution in resolving technical issues

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals, and specifications. Ability to draw fixtures and tooling utilizing 2D and 3D CAD software

Ability to generate CNC programs utilizing CAM software on multi-axis. This will include manually writing programs and maintaining/improving legacy CNC programs.

Understand GD&T and apply it during the programming process.

Identify and select appropriate tooling and fixtures for job specific applications, based on part material, geometry, features, tolerances, rigidity, and equipment capability.

Ability to create and maintain manufacturing documentation & procedure.

Monitor, document, and control any changes made to CNC programs.

Provide technical support to the manufacturing group with regards to the manufacturing processes/tooling related to CNC machines. Make recommendations or adjustments based on analysis, experience, and/or other manufacturing related issues.

Education and Experiences

Degree / Diploma in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent qualification

Preferably with Hands on operations experience in precision machining and mechanical assembly industry

3-5 years related experience; or equivalent of education and experience

Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience using CAM software. (Mastercam & Siemens NX preferred)

Experience with 3-axis & 5-axis CNC machine

Experience with Milling and Turning tools, Mazaktrol and Okuma OSP controls

Experience with designing fixtures.

Performing post-process editing and error proofing of posts to machine tools.

Ability to multi-task

Strong organizational and negotiation skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication in English & Bahasa Malaysia
