Job summary

Ferrotec Manufacturing Malaysia offers a Manufacturing Engineer role focused on process development, quality, and cost optimization. You will work with engineering and operations to qualify equipment, develop MES-based workflows, and improve assembly and test processes on the factory floor.

You will apply CNC and robot-related experience, drive continuous improvement with Lean and Six Sigma, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable product performance and process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 2-5 years of Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering experience on process development, production, quality and testing.
• Hands-on factory floor/manufacturing line experience, preferably in semiconductor equipment or contract manufacturing.
• Experience with CNC machining/processes; robot assembly/testing is a plus.
• Knowledge of MES, SPC, Lean, 6S, Six Sigma and continuous improvement preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Select and maintain material combinations to maximize quality and optimize cost and efficiency.
• Analyze data to maintain product performance and quality objectives.
• Recommend equipment and fixtures based on process flow and time studies.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to augment qualification activities for new/legacy equipment.
• Maintain MES software and generate/modify OMS instructions for assembly.
• Perform failure analysis on equipment, communicate findings and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors and vendors on projects like BV and witness builds.
• Document issues during NPI and product release scale-up with design engineering.
• Develop measurement methods to ensure product quality and performance; contribute to quality/6S projects.

Job description

Responsible for selecting and maintaining best material combinations to maximize quality and optimize manufacturing cost and efficiency.

Analyze data and use all available resources to maintain product performance and meet quality objectives.

Recommends manufacturing line equipment and fixtures based performing product process flow and time standards analysis studies

Partner with engineering and operations teams to augment equipment qualification activities for new products and legacy equipment to increase productivity and enhance quality

Maintain, implement, and administer manufacturing execution system software (MES)

Creating and change manufacturing, assembly, and operation sequence instructions (OMS) for assembly process and MES software.

Maintain, monitor statistics, and perform detailed failure analysis of failed equipment (production and RMA)

Works directly with engineering, sales/customer support, technicians, and customers to perform detailed failure analysis and corrective action reports and activities.

Work directly with customers, outside contractors, and vendors to accomplish manufacturing and operations project objectives such as BV (Build Verification) and witness builds for new products or improvement of existing equipment

Work closely with design engineering to document and resolve issues discovered during new product introduction and product release scale-up phases

Assist with ongoing development of factory acceptance criteria and methods for product final testing, qualification, and quality inspection.

Develop machine and product measurement methods to ensure product quality and performance.

Works directly on quality, 6S lean, and cross-departmental projects and related tasks as needed

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

2-5 years of Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering experience, including process development, production, quality, and testing.

Hands‑on factory floor/manufacturing line experience, preferably within semiconductor equipment or contract manufacturing.

Experience with CNC machining/processes, including ability to understand machining requirements and manufacturing drawings; robot assembly and testing experience is an advantage.

Knowledge of MES, SPC, Lean, 6S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, communication, and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Project, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint.

Intermediate: Level I with 2-5 years of experience, including internship as a Manufacturing Engineer
