Job summary

AIA Digital+ in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, seeks a Manager of Cloud Operations (Database) to deliver and improve cloud database and platform operations on Azure. You will oversee incident, change, request, and problem management to ensure reliability.

You will optimize Azure services, automate tasks with PowerShell and IaC, lead a 24/7 shift, mentor the team, and partner with stakeholders on governance and modernization to boost performance, security, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering or Platform Operations.
• Strong expertise in public cloud (Azure), including migration, operations, and optimization.
• Relevant certifications (Azure, AWS, ITIL) preferred.
• Proven experience in automation, reliability, and enterprise cloud service operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the governance, administration, and optimization of the Azure cloud environment to ensure performance, scalability, and security.
• Drive continuous improvement of operational processes, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Enable cloud adoption and modernization by guiding application teams on architecture and best practices.
• Drive and lead service operations within a 24/7 rotating shift model, actively engaging in incident, change, request, and problem management to maintain high availability and responsiveness.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and capability development for the team.
• Lead resolution of complex cloud issues and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective outcomes.
• Act as a trusted advisor, delivering expert guidance aligned with enterprise architecture and strategy.

Job description

The Manager of Cloud Operations (Database) is responsible for delivering and continuously improving cloud database and platform operations supporting all AIA business units leveraging AIA’s enterprise cloud platform, primarily on Microsoft Azure. This role oversees and enhances day-to-day service delivery across incident, change, request, and problem management, ensuring operational excellence and service reliability.

The position focuses on optimizing cloud infrastructure through advanced administration of Azure services, automation, and performance tuning to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. In addition, the role contributes to strategic cloud initiatives by promoting best practices, supporting architecture and modernization efforts, and partnering with stakeholders to improve platform resilience, cost efficiency, and overall service quality.

Roles and Responsibilities

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering or Platform Operations within enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in public cloud (primarily Azure), including migration, operations, and optimization.
• Relevant certifications (Azure, AWS, ITIL) preferred.
• Proven experience in automation, reliability, and enterprise cloud service operations.
• Solid understanding of IT operating models, governance, and service management (ITIL).
• Experience working in complex, global or decentralized organizations.
• Ability to manage vendors and stakeholders, ensuring service quality and SLAs.
• Experience in a top-tier multinational corporation is an advantage.
