The program aims to develop engineers into technical leaders for AR optics with exposure to metrology, SPC, and NPI activities, within a high-precision, high-mix environment in Penang.
The Engineering Management Trainee for Process Integration (AR Optics) program at SCHOTT develops high-potential engineers into future technical leaders for augmented reality (AR) optics manufacturing. The trainee will support end-to-end process integration of precision optical glass components, including waveguides and AR optical elements. The role emphasizes optical performance, yield robustness, data analytics, and cross-process integration in a high-mix, high-precision environment.
Support integration of multi-step optical manufacturing flows, including slicing & shaping, grinding & polishing, optical coating / surface treatment, and metrology & inspection
Ensure IPQC compatibility, minimizing optical variation (flatness, thickness, angle, variation)
Assist in new metrology recipe deployment from sample preparation, MSA, GR&R study, WI, SOP, and training
Support deployment of control plans and SPC for critical optical parameters
Support AR optics NPI programs, including lot traveler setup and execution, process flow routing creation and execution, engineering builds and controlled trials, and data consolidation and learning loops
Assist in defining process specifications and acceptance criteria, measurement plans and sampling strategies, and manufacturing readiness for ramp-up
Support smooth transfer from R&D / Development into Manufacturing
Analyze manufacturing and quality data from MES / OneData, Grafana dashboards, OQC, inline optical inspection, and defect databases
Apply data-driven problem solving to support technical and management decisions
Support process step capacity modeling for AR optics lines, including bottleneck identification for metrology tools and tool loading and ramp-up scenarios
Work closely with Process Integration Leads, NPI Engineers, and Manufacturing engineers on cross-functional technical reviews, project tracking and reporting, and engineering change coordination
Bachelor's degree in Materials, Optical, Mechanical, Process, Industrial, Chemical, or Mechatronics Engineering
Strong interest in AR optics, precision manufacturing, and process integration
