SCHOTT in Kulim, Malaysia is hiring an Engineer, Maintenance for an on-site role to drive equipment reliability and uptime within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will lead maintenance activities, optimize preventive programs, and work with planners, production teams, and vendors. A strong background in electrical/mechanical systems and SAP PM will help drive improvements and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years hands-on maintenance/engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical and electrical system knowledge with diagnostics/problem-solving.
• Familiarity reading mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
• Experience with SAP PM is an added advantage.

About us

Lead manufacturing equipment standardization, setup, and training (including preparation of work instructions), and source new technologies from the market. Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance activities are executed effectively to minimize equipment downtime and production impact. Drive system capability improvements (hardware, software, and automation) in collaboration with IT/OT coordinators, aligned with defined KPIs. Work closely with planners, production teams, and technicians to plan and execute equipment-related activities (TBM, CBM, and improvement initiatives) without delays. Support daily operations and troubleshoot yield or equipment-related issues. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of work orders, documentation, and asset data in the SAP PM module. Develop and implement efficient, cost-effective maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment. Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment productivity and reduce maintenance costs. Manage SAP material master data, including material code registration and setting minimum inventory stock levels. Provide high-level technical hands-on support for major equipment breakdowns, perform root cause analysis, and ensure close follow-up with suppliers/vendors. Lead and execute improvement projects, ensuring timely delivery and measurable performance gains.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Alternatively, a Technical Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in maintenance or engineering roles within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including diagnostics and problem-solving.
• Ability to read, interpret, and develop mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
• Good analytical skills with a structured approach to root cause analysis and problem-solving.
• Effective communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional teams, including production, planners, and vendors.
• Familiarity with SAP PM module and maintenance management systems is an added advantage.
• Self-driven, proactive, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
