Job summary

Hengyuan Refining Company in Malaysia seeks a Maintenance Technician – Mechanical (Workshop) to perform and support mechanical maintenance activities, focusing on rotating and static equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.

The role requires certificate in mechanical discipline, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to HSSE. You will work with various teams and may participate in Turnaround activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Certificate in mechanical discipline or related technical area.
• Experience or exposure to mechanical maintenance preferred.

• Commitment to safety, quality and reliable maintenance practices.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours, including weekends and during Turnaround activities.

Responsibilities

• Comply with HRC HSSE standards and requirements.
• Execute maintenance activities per GAME Maintenance Execution process.
• Carry out mechanical maintenance work assigned through to completion and closure.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, compressors, valves, filters, vessels and other equipment.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair rotating equipment.
• Coordinate with other departments and contractors on maintenance tasks.
• Support turnaround activities and other major maintenance events.

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician – Mechanical (Workshop) to execute and support mechanical maintenance activities, particularly for rotating and static equipment, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comply with HRC HSSE standards, procedures, and requirements.
• Execute maintenance activities in accordance with the GAME Maintenance Execution process.
• Execute mechanical maintenance work assigned by the Planner, Scheduler, or Area Engineer through to completion and closure.
• Perform plant change and modification work as required.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, compressors, valves, filters, vessels, columns, relief valves, and other mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair plant rotating equipment.
• Adhere to workshop safety procedures, SOPs, and applicable working guidelines.
• Work closely with Inspection, Operations, Technologists, Procurement, Workshop personnel, and contractors on maintenance-related matters.
• Provide support to other disciplines when required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support Turnaround activities and other major maintenance activities.
• Obtain and maintain relevant competency certifications in accordance with HRC requirements.
• Perform other duties related to mechanical maintenance as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
• Candidates with relevant working experience in rotating equipment and mechanical plant maintenance are encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge and hands‑on experience in the maintenance of rotating and static mechanical equipment will be an added advantage.
• Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and reliable maintenance practices.
• Willingness to work beyond normal office hours, including weekends, public holidays, and during Turnaround activities when required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and coordinate with multiple departments and contractors.
