Job Title: MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST
Position Summary :
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all facility equipment, utilities, building systems and infrastructure. The role plans, executes and continuously improves maintenance activities through advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment reliability improvement, contractor coordination and compliance with applicable safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Plan, perform and coordinate preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance activities for facility equipment, utilities, building systems and infrastructure.
- 2. Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC and facility-related equipment issues to minimize operational downtime.
- 3. Develop, review and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs, maintenance procedures, inspection checklists and work instructions to enhance equipment reliability.
- 4. Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
- 5. Monitor equipment performance, maintenance history and downtime trends to identify reliability improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
- 6. Plan and coordinate maintenance shutdowns, equipment overhauls, installations, commissioning activities and facility modification projects.
- 7. Coordinate and supervise external contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with company requirements.
- 8. Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, statutory inspection records, technical documentation and asset information.
- 9. Manage maintenance spare parts, recommend inventory levels and support procurement of maintenance materials and services.
- 10. Ensure maintenance activities comply with industrial best practice, company requirements and applicable regulatory and statutory requirements.
- 11. Support installation, qualification, validation and acceptance of equipment, facility systems and process improvements.
- 12. Drive Continuous Improvement (CI), Lean, TPM, 5S and reliability initiatives to improve equipment availability, maintenance efficiency and operational performance.
- 13. Support internal, customer and regulatory audits related to maintenance, facilities, utilities and infrastructure.
- 14. Respond to emergency maintenance situations and provide technical support outside normal working hours when required.
- 15. Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate superior or management.
Qualification
- 1. Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering, Facilities Management, Asset Management, or other related technical discipline.
- 2. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in facility, building, utility, or industrial equipment maintenance within a manufacturing, aerospace, MRO, or related industrial environment.
- 3. Competency certificates issued by the Energy Commission (ST), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Department of Environment (DOE) i.e CePIETSO / CePSWAM, or other relevant regulatory authorities will be an added advantage.
- 4. Demonstrated competency in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, utility, and facility systems.
- 5. Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
- 6. Hands-on experience in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, including root cause analysis (RCA), equipment reliability improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- 7. Proficient in the use of maintenance tools, precision measuring instruments, testing equipment, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or computerized diagnostic software.
- 8. Good knowledge of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) requirements, including safe work practices and applicable statutory regulations.
- 9. Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP or CMMS systems will be an added advantage.
- 10. Able to communicate effectively in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both verbally and in writing.
- 11. Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- 12. Able to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and perform effectively with minimal supervision.
- 13. Willing to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and respond to emergency maintenance activities whenever required.
