The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of Mechanical, Electrical & Automation, Utilities, Boiler, Water Treatment and Wastewater/Effluent Treatment systems, ensuring high equipment reliability, plant availability, food safety, safety compliance and regulatory compliance.
This position will lead the engineering and maintenance team during plant commissioning, start-up and subsequent commercial production.
Lead the overall Engineering & Maintenance Department covering Mechanical, Electrical & Automation and Utilities.
Develop and manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.
Ensure high equipment reliability and minimise breakdowns and unplanned production downtime.
Lead troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis for major and recurring equipment failures.
Support plant installation, testing, commissioning, start-up and equipment handover.
Manage maintenance of food-processing equipment, production machinery and supporting utility systems.
Oversee mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, piping, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers and rotating equipment.
Manage electrical systems including MCCs, switchgear, transformers, motors, VFDs, panels and electrical distribution systems.
Provide oversight for PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation and plant automation systems.
Manage utilities including:
Boiler and steam systems
Water Treatment Plant
Wastewater / Effluent Treatment Plant
Chillers and cooling towers
Compressed air
HVAC / AHU systems
Process water systems
Electrical power distribution
Ensure maintenance activities comply with GMP, HACCP, food safety and hygiene requirements.
Ensure maintenance activities do not create contamination or foreign-material risks within production areas.
Ensure appropriate food-grade lubricants and materials are used where required.
Manage CMMS, maintenance schedules, equipment history and engineering documentation.
Manage critical spare parts and maintenance inventory.
Manage contractors, OEM suppliers and external service providers.
Plan and control engineering and maintenance budgets.
Ensure compliance with statutory, safety and regulatory requirements.
Lead and develop Engineers, Technicians, Chargeman, Boiler Operators and Utilities/Wastewater personnel.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, energy efficiency, safety and cost reduction.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 10 years of engineering and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory position.
Compulsory: Must have hands-on Engineering and Maintenance experience in a food manufacturing / food-processing plant.
Candidates without food manufacturing experience will not be considered.
Strong experience managing Mechanical, Electrical and Utilities maintenance in a food production environment.
Experience maintaining food-processing machinery, production lines and associated utility systems.
Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, food safety, hygiene and contamination-control requirements relating to engineering and maintenance activities.
Experience in plant commissioning, start-up or greenfield food manufacturing projects will be an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, breakdown management and Root Cause Analysis.
Good working knowledge of boilers, steam systems, WTP, WWTP/ETP, chillers, cooling towers, compressors and HVAC systems.
Familiarity with MCC, VFD, PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation and industrial automation.
Experience with CMMS or maintenance management systems.
Able to interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, electrical Single Line Diagrams and OEM technical documentation.
Strong leadership, communication, planning and troubleshooting capabilities.
Able to lead multidisciplinary Engineering & Maintenance teams in a continuous food-manufacturing environment.
Food manufacturing / food processing experience is mandatory.
