Job summary

Soon Soon Oilmills Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Engineering) to lead preventive maintenance planning and root-cause analysis.

You will coordinate with teams to minimise downtime, manage spares, and ensure GMP/HACCP compliance across maintenance activities. The role emphasises leadership, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to train staff while delivering reliable equipment performance in a manufacturing environment in Penang.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering and related field.
• Preferably with 1-3 year(s) of working experience in the related field.
• Good leadership and communication skills are essential.
• Good technical background, trouble shooting and problem solving skill.
• Hands-on technical experience will be added advantage.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage, plan and execute effective preventive maintenance program schedule.
• Analyse and identify root cause of breakdown to formulate effective and viable solutions.
• Control and manage manpower to match individual personnel skill with work requirement for fast and effective response.
• Monitor spare parts stock to ensure minimum levels are maintained.
• Liaise with external supplier and contractors to ensure modifications works, repairs, installation works, project works are within deadlines and cost.
• Liaise with other sections and departments to ensure maintenance works are executed with minimum interruptions to operations.
• Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance of all maintenance personnel to company GMP, HACCP, and other relevant standards and practices as per required by the company.
• Maintain and manage to ensure maintenance records are accurate and updated.
• Implements Total Quality Management, Total Productive Maintenance programmes to achieve company quality targets and standards.
• Ensures that healthy and safe systems of work are maintained and that all possible steps are taken to prevent accidents and minimize hazards to occupational health.
• Trains and develops the people required, both in number and quality, to meet present and future needs.
• Build effective teams, develop motivation, commitment, and maintain sound labour relations and morale.
• Responsible to support the Company’s Food Safety Program by implementing the relevant requirements as specified by the Company.
• Perform any other assigned duties deemed fit and appropriate for the position.
