Job summary

Fortune Food Manufacturing is seeking a Lead M&E Technician to oversee daily maintenance and troubleshooting of food manufacturing equipment. You will lead a small team, ensure safe operation of electrical and mechanical systems, and drive preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

The role requires a diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, boiler operation experience, and PLC/pneumatic knowledge to support reliability across the plant.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with boilers and co-generation processes.
  • Steam boiler attendant certificate or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems and electro-mechanical pneumatics.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Factory Manager and monitor machinery performance.
  • Troubleshoot, modify or replace parts on process equipment as needed.
  • Lead a technician and oversee daily maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure safe, economical operation of electrical and mechanical services.
  • Plan preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain work orders, service logs, and equipment history for audits.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors.
  • Train and mentor technicians to build team capability.
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
  • Coordinate boiler and pressure vessel inspections and renewals.

Lead M&E Technician in the day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of food manufacturing equipment, machinery, and plant utilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations at all times. The Maintenance Engineer plays a hands-on role in preventive and corrective maintenance, boiler and utility operations, and workshop management, while supporting the Factory Manager in driving maintenance planning, equipment reliability, and compliance with statutory safety requirements across the factory.

Key responsibilities
  • Report to the Factory Manager and assist in monitoring machinery, reviewing performance, and initiating corrective measures when necessary
  • Troubleshoot and modify or replace parts on process equipment as required
  • Lead a technician, overseeing daily maintenance and troubleshooting of food manufacturing equipment, while actively engaging in machinery repairs
  • Ensure effective, economical, and safe operation of all electrical and mechanical services equipment and systems
  • Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned equipment downtime and extend asset lifespan
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, service logs, and equipment history, for audit and reliability tracking purposes
  • Manage spare parts inventory levels and coordinate with vendors and external contractors for procurement, repairs, and servicing
  • Guide, train, and mentor technicians and engineering assistants to build technical competency and strengthen the maintenance team
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, including participation in risk assessments, permit-to-work processes, and safety audits
  • Liaise with statutory authorities on boiler and pressure vessel inspections, licensing, and certification renewals
About you
  • Minimum Diploma / Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in the operation of boilers and co-generation processes
  • Minimum steam boiler attendant certificate, and training as a first/second-grade boiler engineer
  • At least 3 to 5 years of working experience in the related field, ideally in a food manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of computer-based/PLC control systems and electro-mechanical pneumatics applications
  • Good exposure to electrical/mechanical works and facility management
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and process improvements
  • Proficient in spoken and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and boiler/pressure vessel statutory requirements
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and P&ID schematics
