Job summary

LD Micro Precision Sdn Bhd, Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking a skilled Machinist to operate surface grinding, CNC milling/turning, wirecut and EDM, to manufacture precision components. This full-time role focuses on meeting exact specifications and delivery schedules for diverse industries.

You will read blueprints, set up tools, program machines, monitor operations and perform quality checks with micrometers and gauges, collaborating with QC to optimise processes in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret technical drawings/blueprints accurately.
• Perform quality inspections using precision instruments to tight tolerances.
• Set up machine tools, tooling and fixtures per job specs and engineering details.
• Troubleshoot machine issues and perform routine maintenance.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Machinist (Surface Grinding, CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Wirecut, EDM Sinker, Autolathe, Turn & Mill) to join our production team at our Bayan Lepas facility in Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in manufacturing precision components to exact specifications. As a Machinist, you will operate and maintain advanced machining equipment, ensuring all products meet our rigorous quality standards and delivery schedules. This position is essential to our operations, as precision and attention to detail directly impact the quality of components delivered to our valued clients.

Key responsibilities

Operate and maintain precision machining equipment by department of Surface Grinding, CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Autolathe, CNC Turn & Mill, Wirecut and EDM Sinker machines.

Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications to set up and program the machines accurately

Set up machine tools, tooling and fixtures according to job requirements and engineering specifications

Monitor machining operations to ensure components are produced to exact tolerances and quality standards

Perform quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, callipers and gauges

Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform routine maintenance and adjustments

Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations

Document production data, machine settings and quality measurements as required

Collaborate with supervisors and quality control teams to resolve production issues and optimise processes

Ensure adherence to production schedules and delivery deadlines

What we're looking for

Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and engineering specifications accurately

Competence in using precision measuring instruments and conducting quality inspections to tight tolerances

Knowledge of machine set-up, tooling, calibration and routine maintenance procedures

Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing work to exact specifications

Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machine issues independently

Strong understanding of health, safety and workshop best practices

Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively within a team environment

Relevant vocational qualifications or certifications in machining or mechanical engineering (preferred)

Experience with CAD/CAM programming or CNC machine operation (advantageous)
