Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines, lathes, milling machines and other equipment per specifications and work orders.
• Set up machines and adjust cutting tools, speeds and feeds to achieve required dimensions.
• Monitor operations and product quality, making adjustments to maintain tolerances.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to prevent downtime.
• Inspect finished components using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify specs.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and report issues to maintenance staff.
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
• Follow health and safety protocols and keep work area clean and organized.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production targets and deadlines.

About the role

Hittech Wemac Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Simpang Ampat, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our production operations. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimising machine tools to produce precision components that meet our exacting standards. This role is essential to our manufacturing excellence and directly contributes to the quality and efficiency of our output.

Key responsibilities

Operate various machine tools including CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and other manufacturing equipment according to technical specifications and work orders

Set up machines and adjust cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to achieve required dimensions and tolerances

Monitor machine operations and product quality, making necessary adjustments to maintain consistency and precision

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime

Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as callipers, micrometres, and gauges to verify compliance with specifications

Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform corrective maintenance or report issues to maintenance staff

Maintain accurate production records and documentation

Follow all health and safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work environment

Collaborate with production supervisors and team members to meet production targets and deadlines

What we're looking for

Proven experience operating CNC machines and conventional machine tools in a manufacturing environment

Strong understanding of mechanical principles, tolerances, and precision manufacturing techniques

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions

Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately

Knowledge of machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting skills

Good mathematical aptitude for calculating dimensions, speeds, and feeds

Attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work

Ability to work safely and follow established health and safety procedures

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Reliability and punctuality

Relevant vocational qualification or technical certification in machining or mechanical engineering is preferred

Experience with CAM programming or automated manufacturing systems would be an advantage
