Job summary

PKX ENGINEERING SDN BHD is seeking a skilled machinist to produce and repair mechanical components. You will read drawings, plan machining sequences, set up and operate conventional lathes, milling and drilling machines, as well as CNC machines.

Responsibilities include achieving specified dimensions, tolerances and surface finish, selecting tools and speeds, and inspecting parts with precision instruments. You will work with fabrication and production teams to meet schedules.

Qualifications

• Certificate in machining, mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred
• Practical experience operating conventional lathe, milling and drilling machines
• Experience in CNC machine setup and operation is preferred
• CNC programming ability is an advantage
• Able to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring instruments
• Careful with dimensions, quality and safe machine operation
• Able to work independently and as part of a workshop team

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and determine the machining sequence, tools and materials required
• Set up and operate conventional lathe, milling and drilling machines, as well as CNC machines
• Machine components to the specified dimensions, tolerances and surface finish
• Select cutting tools and set suitable speeds and feeds for each job
• Measure and inspect finished parts using vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges and other measuring instruments
• Identify machining problems, make necessary adjustments and report defects or drawing discrepancies to the supervisor
• Carry out basic machine care, including cleaning, lubrication and checks before use
• Keep machining records where required and maintain a clean, organised work area
• Follow workshop safety procedures and use the required personal protective equipment
• Work with the fabrication and production teams to complete jobs on schedule
