Job summary

A precision machining company in Penang is seeking a Machinist to set up and operate CNC Auto-lathe machines. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in machining, a basic understanding of G-code programming, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities include monitoring operations, conducting maintenance, and mentoring trainee machinists. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety procedures in a dynamic production setting.

Role
  • Set up and operate CNCAuto-lathemachines according to specifications and production yield
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with other machinists and engineers to improve processes and enhance production efficiency.
  • Follow safety procedures, workplace regulations, and keep the work area organised (5S principles).
  • Document production activities and maintain accurate records of work performed according to the Company’s ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Mentor trainee machinists, provide guidance and training on best practices when required.
Requirements
  • Minimum SPM or equivalent with at least 1 year experience in machining or CNC Auto-latheoperations.
  • Basic understanding of machining processes and latheoperations.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of G-code programming and machine setup.
  • Experience in micro parts fabrication and precision measuring instruments such as toolmakers microscope, micrometres, etc. will be an added advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Possess a proactive approach to learning.
  • Able to work together in a team-oriented environment.
  • Able to work on rotating shifts to meet operational requirements.
