VFive Construction Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia is seeking a seasoned Machinery Manager to oversee the fleet of construction machinery, plant and heavy equipment across projects.
You will manage deployment, maintenance, cost efficiency and safety compliance, coordinating with project and site teams, procurement and suppliers. The role requires 10–15 years of relevant experience in infrastructure or construction environments.
The Machinery Manager is responsible for the overall management, availability, utilisation, maintenance and operational performance of the company's construction machinery, plant and equipment. The role ensures that all machinery is safe, reliable, properly maintained, cost-effective and available according to project requirements. The Machinery Manager will work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, Construction Managers, Site Teams, Procurement, Finance and external suppliers to ensure efficient deployment and utilisation of machinery across construction projects.
Key responsibilities
Manage the company's fleet of construction machinery, plant and heavy equipment supporting infrastructure projects.
Develop and implement an effective machinery management system covering deployment, utilisation, maintenance, repair, replacement and overall asset control.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date machinery and equipment register, including ownership, location, condition, utilisation and maintenance records.
Supervise, train and manage machinery operators, mechanics, technicians and supporting personnel.
Recommend the purchase, replacement, disposal or hiring of machinery based on project requirements, availability and cost effectiveness.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Site Managers to determine machinery requirements and deployment schedules.
Ensure all preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing are carried out in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company requirements.
Monitor machinery utilisation, productivity, fuel consumption, operating costs and downtime across project sites.
Work closely with the HSE/Safety team to ensure machinery operations comply with applicable safety, inspection and statutory requirements.
Conduct regular machinery condition, operational and safety inspections, and ensure corrective actions are promptly implemented.
About you
Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Machinery, Plant Management, or a related field.
Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in heavy machinery, plant and equipment management, preferably within infrastructure or construction projects.
Extensive experience in managing construction plant, heavy equipment, machinery deployment, utilisation, maintenance and repair.
Strong knowledge of equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, rollers, cranes, pavers, asphalt plants, batching plants, piling equipment and other heavy construction machinery.
Experience in machinery planning, allocation, mobilisation, demobilisation and productivity monitoring across multiple project sites.
Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, breakdown management, spare parts, equipment inspection and maintenance scheduling.
Familiar with machinery operating costs, fuel consumption, utilisation rates, maintenance budgets and equipment lifecycle management.
Good understanding of DOSH/JKKP, CIDB and relevant statutory requirements relating to construction machinery and equipment.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, negotiation and team management skills.
Willing to travel and work across project sites as required.
