Sumiputeh Steel Centre Sdn Bhd is seeking a Logistics Assistant to support front-line logistics operations from Shah Alam. The role involves verifying invoices from freight forwarders, generating reports, coordinating daily logistics activities, and assisting with customs clearance for raw materials and machinery.
You will liaise with internal teams and external partners to resolve shipment issues and improve processes.
Check and verify invoices received from freight forwarders to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
Provide relevant logistics data, reports, and analysis to the Logistics HOD to support operational monitoring and decision-making.
Coordinate, harmonize, and monitor day-to-day logistics operations to ensure smooth and efficient activities.
Manage and monitor customs clearance processes for incoming raw materials, machinery, and other relevant shipments.
Identify logistics-related issues and establish appropriate corrective and improvement action plans.
Coordinate and follow up with freight forwarders, overseas mills, mill agents, shipping liners, Sales, Accounts, and other relevant parties regarding shipments, customs matters, and documentation to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Utilize the Logistics ERP system effectively to monitor activities, maintain accurate records, and improve logistics procedures.
Prepare accurate and timely logistics reports for submission to the Logistics HOD.
Prepare and submit Bank Guarantee (BG) applications to the bank within the required timeline, including applications for BG extension, cancellation, and collection from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD).
Monitor and follow up on the monthly return of K1 customs documents from freight forwarders.
Manage applications for Import Duty and Sales and Service Tax (SST) exemptions for incoming raw materials, machinery, and other applicable items.
Maintain proper records and documentation relating to shipments, customs clearance, duty exemptions, Bank Guarantees, and other logistics activities.
Liaise with relevant internal departments and external parties to resolve shipment, documentation, customs, and logistics-related issues.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department (HOD).
Requirements
Candidates with or without prior working experience are welcome to apply.
Knowledge or experience in logistics, shipping, customs clearance, or related documentation will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and/or experience with SIRIM Certificate of Approval (COA) requirements will be an added advantage.
Basic computer literacy and ability to work with Microsoft Office applications.
Good communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
Willing to learn and able to work effectively with internal departments and external parties.
