Job summary

SONT PHOTONICS SDN. BHD. in Penang, Batu Kawan, is seeking a logistics coordinator responsible for overall planning, cost control, and timeliness of freight forwarding. You will manage booking, tracking, and exception handling while staying updated on import/export policies and maintaining LMW data.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in international trade or logistics, with at least 1 year of related experience and familiarity with Malaysian and U.S. import/export processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, timeliness, and cost management of freight forwarding.
• Handle transportation booking, status updates, and exception handling.
• Interface with MITI, MIDA, and customs on import/export matters.
• Operate and maintain LMW applications; process CO certificates.
• Manage import/export customs documents and declarations.
• Ad-hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Responsible for the overall planning, selection, timeliness and cost management of logistics freight forwarding.

Responsible for logistics transportation booking, pick-up, status follow-up, and handling of exceptions.

Serve as the work interface with MITI, MIDA, and customs, and keep abreast of policies and changes in import and export operations.

Responsible for the application and maintenance of LMW.

Handle import and export customs matters, such as sorting customs declaration documents and outputting customs declaration data.

Apply for and track CO certificates.

Ad-hoc tasks assigned by direct superior.

Job Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or above in international trade, logistics or related field..

At least 1 year of work experience in related fields; familiarity with Malaysian import and export processes, and knowledge of U.S. import and export processes and policies is preferred.

Proficient in customs declaration and clearance procedures, and understanding of relevant national laws and regulations.

Strong communication and coordination skills, as well as problem-solving abilities.
