Job summary

Credence Advisory in Kuala Lumpur invites an experienced Loan Team Leader to supervise the loan operations team in a fast-paced, compliant environment. You will oversee the end-to-end loan process, mentor staff and drive efficiency and quality across credit activities.

The role focuses on risk management, policy adherence and cross-functional collaboration with Risk, Compliance and Collections to support the lending portfolio and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years in banking/credit with 2–3 years in leadership or supervisory roles.
• Strong knowledge of loan underwriting, credit analysis and risk assessment.
• Solid understanding of Malaysia lending policies, regulations and compliance.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills for team development.
• Proficiency with loan management systems and banking software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor loan officers and credit specialists to drive excellence.
• Oversee end-to-end loan processing: application review, underwriting, documentation and disbursement.
• Monitor team performance against KPIs and implement improvements.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulations and internal procedures.
• Review and approve loan applications within delegated authority with sound credit judgement.
• Perform quality checks on loan files for accuracy and completeness.
• Identify credit risks and escalate complex cases to senior management.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance and Collections for operational excellence.
• Develop process improvements to reduce turnaround times.
• Prepare regular reports on team performance and portfolio metrics.
