Job summary

Megalift is seeking an experienced Lifting Engineer in Malaysia for a 6-month data centre project. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise safe lifting, positioning, and installation of heavy equipment including generators, chillers, transformers, and switchgear at the site.

Collaborate with Project Manager, Site Supervisors, Crane Operators, Riggers, and QA/QC to ensure lifting activities meet schedules, quality, and safety standards under DOSH and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of lifting operations or heavy-lifting experience.
• Degree or Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong crane operations, rigging, and lifting planning skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and equipment specs.
• Knowledge of Malaysian DOSH/OSHA requirements and HSE practices.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Develop lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and lifting procedures for data centre equipment.
• Assess weights, dimensions, centre of gravity, lifting points, crane capacity, and rigging needs.
• Coordinate crane operations, rigging, deliveries, staging, and lifting sequences with the project schedule.
• Supervise lifting work at site ensuring safe execution per approved plans.
• Conduct pre-lift briefings and ensure personnel understand the lifting method and safety rules.
• Inspect lifting gears, rigging, cranes, and accessories before lifts.
• Ensure compliance with DOSH/OSHA and other Malaysian regulations and HSE procedures.
• Coordinate with logistics to have equipment arrive on site per lifting sequence.
• Verify equipment specs, weights, lifting points, and site access before lifting.
• Maintain lifting documentation, inspection records, permits and daily reports.

We are hiring an experienced Lifting Engineer to join our team for a 6-month data centre project. The Lifting Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the safe lifting, positioning, and installation of critical equipment and systems, including generators, chillers, cooling towers, transformers, switchgear, electrical equipment, and other heavy plant equipment. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Supervisors, Crane Operators, Riggers, Logistics Team, QA/QC, HSE personnel, and specialist contractors to ensure lifting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and lifting procedures for data centre equipment and heavy plant.
• Assess equipment weights, dimensions, centre of gravity, lifting points, crane capacity, lifting radius, ground conditions, and rigging requirements.
• Coordinate crane operations, rigging activities, equipment delivery, staging, and lifting sequences with the project schedule.
• Supervise and monitor lifting operations at site to ensure safe execution and compliance with approved lifting plans.
• Conduct pre-lift briefings/toolbox meetings and ensure all personnel understand the lifting methodology and safety requirements.
• Inspect and verify lifting gears, rigging equipment, cranes, and accessories before lifting activities.
• Ensure lifting activities comply with DOSH requirements, OSHA requirements, relevant Malaysian regulations, and company HSE procedures.
• Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure equipment arrives at site according to the planned lifting sequence.
• Verify equipment specifications, weights, lifting points, and site access requirements before lifting.
• Prepare and maintain lifting documentation, inspection records, daily reports, permits, and other project documentation.

About you

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in lifting operations, heavy lifting, equipment installation, or construction projects.
• Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in crane operations, rigging, heavy lifting, and lifting planning.
• Good knowledge of load calculations, rigging methods, crane selection, lifting accessories, and safe lifting practices.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, lifting drawings, and technical documents.
• Good knowledge of Malaysian DOSH/OSHA requirements and HSE practices.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Willing to work at project site and support lifting activities according to project requirements.
