- Act as the key legal advisor to internal stakeholders, providing legal input on business plans, operational strategies, and commercial risk matters.
- Translate legal and regulatory risk into practical, commercially sound guidance that supports business operations, expansion, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor developments in applicable laws, regulations, and authority guidelines, assess their commercial and operational impact, and proactively advise relevant departments on compliance obligations and required action.
- Review and advise on internal policies, SOPs, and operational guidelines to ensure they remain legally valid and aligned with applicable regulatory requirements
2. Contract Lifecycle Management
- Govern the full contract lifecycle — drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements across telecommunications infrastructure projects (e.g. FTTH, FTK, OLT, and NGT contracts), from main contracts through to subcontract, supply agreements, and consultancy agreements.
- Manage a broad range of commercial agreements as and when required, including but not limited to novation agreements, deeds of assignment, tenancy agreements, NDA, MOU, and logistic agreements.
- Ensure all contractual terms are legally compliant, commercially sound, and protective of the Company's interests before execution.
3. Sales & Business Support
- Support sales and business teams with legal input during bidding, tendering, and proposal stages, including review of tender terms and conditions.
- Advise business units on legal and contractual implications of proposed deals, partnerships, and expansion plans to enable informed commercial decision-making.
4. Process & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, government authorities, external legal advisors, and internal stakeholders on all legal and compliance matters.
- Coordinate corporate governance matters, including board matters, statutory filings, and regulatory approvals, liaising between Malaysia operations and Group HQ.
- Extend legal oversight to the Group's Singapore subsidiary, ensuring compliance with Singapore laws and regulatory requirements across contract management, corporate governance, and day-to-day operational matters.
5. Post-Execution of Contract
- Monitor post-execution contract performance, including compliance with agreed terms, variation orders, and change management processes.
- Advise on contract close-out matters, including final account settlement, defects liability, warranty claims.
- Manage contractual notices, extensions of time, and claims arising during the performance and completion stages of a project.
6. Litigation Management
- Formulate and execute dispute resolution strategies, managing litigation, arbitration, and other dispute matters from inception through resolution.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external law firms to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and professionally managed case handling.
- Provide internal stakeholders with risk assessments and strategic recommendations at each stage of ongoing disputes
Experience & Qualifications Requirements
- A degree in law (LLB or equivalent).
- Admission as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years+ of PQE, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
- Proven track record in handling litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution matters in Malaysia.
- Experience in handling cross-border legal matters involving multiple jurisdictions, with demonstrated adaptability to diverse legal and cultural environments.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia required; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage given the Group's regional operations and reporting lines to China HQ.
- Willingness to travel to other states as and when required.
