Job summary

Majestic Gen Sdn Bhd seeks a Legal Counsel – Litigation & Compliance to join our Damansara Heights office in Kuala Lumpur. The role focuses on strategic litigation management and robust compliance oversight to safeguard the company’s interests.

You will manage litigation matters across corporate commercial, property, adjudication, arbitration and court proceedings, while implementing compliance programmes and monitoring regulatory developments.

Qualifications

• A law degree with admission to the bar in Malaysia or equivalent legal qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience in corporate commercial matters, employment matters and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in managing estate-family dispute matters is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian legal frameworks relevant to corporate operations and commercial law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex legal matters clearly.
• Proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with high attention to detail.
• Experience working with external counsel and managing legal vendor relationships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound commercial judgment.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and case management systems.
• Professional integrity and discretion with sensitive matters.
• Preferred experience in dispute resolution methods such as mediation and arbitration.

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel – Litigation & Compliance to join Majestic Gen Sdn Bhd in our Damansara Heights office, Kuala Lumpur. This full-time role is pivotal in safeguarding the company’s interests through strategic litigation management and robust compliance oversight.

You will manage litigation matters (property, adjudication, arbitration, and court proceedings), oversee recovery and enforcement actions, and collaborate with external solicitors to develop legal strategies. The role also involves reviewing pleadings, submissions, and settlement proposals, while ensuring matters are handled efficiently and within deadlines.

On the compliance side, you will monitor regulatory developments, implement compliance programmes, and interpret laws impacting operations. You will also manage external counsel relationships, monitor legal costs, and provide advisory support on project development, tenancies, and cross-functional initiatives.

This position is integral to our risk management strategy, contributing directly to the company’s operational integrity and strategic objectives.

LITIGATION MATTERS

Manage and monitor litigation matters of the Group related to corporate commercial, property, adjudication, arbitration and court proceedings,

Develop legal strategies together with external solicitors.

Review pleadings, cause papers, submissions, witness statements and settlement proposals. and providing regular updates on litigation matters to Management.

Oversee recovery and enforcement proceedings.

Manage external legal counsel and monitor legal costs.

To provide support in various legal areas, including legal research and advisory services relating to project development, commercial agreements and tenancies.

Provide legal support on ad hoc matters, strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects as required and instructed from time to time.

Manage and ensure matters are handled efficiently and within deadlines.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and industry requirements.

Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the Group.

Develop and implement legal compliance programmes.

Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations impacting the organization’s operations.

What we're looking for

A law degree with admission to the bar in Malaysia or equivalent legal qualification

Demonstrated expertise in managing corporate commercial matters, employment matters and regulatory compliance

Experience in managing estate-family related disoutes is an added advantage
