Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for a senior Strategic Sourcing Commercial Specialist to join our team in Kuala Lumpur office.He/ she will lead strategic sourcing and commercial initiatives to optimise costs, strengthen supplier partnerships and manage commercial risks and deliver sustainable value across the supply chain.This role also provides global commercial and legal support and oversees the Supplier Management function to ensure consistent governance, compliance, and effective supplier management across the business.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Lead global commercial and strategic sourcing projects, from planning and sourcing through negotiation, contracting, implementation, and handover.
• Provide commercial and legal support on contracts, negotiations, commercial terms, supplier arrangements, and contractual risks across global operations.
• Drive cost optimisation and value creation through Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), spend analysis, market benchmarking, and supplier strategy.
• Develop commercial strategies, evaluate bids, lead negotiations, and prepare business cases to support key sourcing and commercial decisions.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and senior leaders to translate business requirements into effective commercial solutions and agreements.
• Identify and manage commercial, contractual, operational, and supplier risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation and escalation.
• Support the global Supplier Management team, ensuring consistent supplier onboarding, governance, compliance, performance management, and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders while providing clear commercial insights, reporting, and recommendations to support business decisions.

Requirements of the successful candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Engineering or related discipline with minimum 7 years’ experience in strategic sourcing, commercial management, contract management, procurement, supply chain, or commercial legal functions, preferably in a global industrial or manufacturing environment.
• A legal qualification or strong commercial legal background is highly desirable.
• Strong experience in commercial strategy, contract negotiation, supplier management, sourcing, and commercial risk management.
• Demonstrated experience in TCO, spend analysis, market benchmarking, and cost optimisation.
• Experience leading or managing global teams and stakeholders across multiple locations or jurisdictions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to confidently interact with people of all cultures at all levels.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Additional language will be an advantage.
