Job summary

Private Advertiser in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own a sophisticated production software platform, guiding a growing engineering team across IoT, cloud, and data-driven initiatives. You will stay hands-on while mentoring others and shaping architecture.

The role requires deep experience across cloud, backend, frontend, and IoT, with strong leadership and cross-country collaboration. You will report to senior leadership and influence technology direction locally.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years leading technical projects, mentoring engineers or technical leadership.
• Strong software architecture and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with backend technologies (Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Go, or Java).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with containers, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Experience building data-intensive applications, APIs or data pipelines.
• Strong SQL and data architecture understanding.
• Good written and spoken English for cross-country collaboration.
• Experience with modern TypeScript frontend development (Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, Ionic).
• Experience in IoT, embedded systems, time-series data, ML or edge AI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the software platform including data pipelines, APIs and cloud infrastructure.
• Transform raw sensor data into actionable information for industrial users.
• Develop web and cross-platform mobile applications for sensor configuration and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with embedded firmware engineers on end-to-end device-to-cloud architecture.
• Advance AI/data-driven capabilities including time-series analytics and edge AI deployment.
• Uphold software quality through reviews, testing, CI/CD, observability and release management.
• Mentor engineers, shape engineering culture, and contribute to the tech roadmap.
