Malakoff Corporation Berhad is seeking an experienced Lead, Electrical, Control & Instrument (EC&I) to support the development, commissioning, and operation of our Sungai Udang Waste-to-Energy (WTE) Plant.
This role requires a seasoned EC&I professional with strong experience in utility-scale power plants, integrated plant control systems, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring reliable and efficient operation of the plant’s electrical and control infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all Electrical, Control & Instrumentation activities throughout engineering, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness phases.
- Oversee the design review, installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems.
- Manage and coordinate DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, field instrumentation, analyzers, and control networks.
- Review and validate EC&I engineering deliverables, technical specifications, drawings, and vendor documentation.
- Ensure seamless integration between boiler, turbine-generator, flue gas treatment systems, balance of plant systems, and central control systems.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), commissioning, performance testing, and reliability assessments.
- Provide technical leadership during plant startup, synchronization, and operational stabilization.
- Coordinate closely with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in power generation, Waste-to-Energy, thermal power plant, combined cycle power plant, biomass power plant, or industrial utility facilities.
- Proven hands-on experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) such as Alstom/GE Control Systems, Emerson Ovation, Honeywell Experion, plant-wide integrated control systems, central control room operations, human-machine interface (HMI), control desk systems (CDS), electrical protection systems, PLC and SCADA systems, process instrumentation, and analyzers.
- Experience in commissioning and startup of power plants will be highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and relevant international power industry standards.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in EPC project environments.
- Exposure to boiler, turbine, generator, and balance of plant (BOP) control systems.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary EC&I teams during commissioning and operational readiness.
