Job summary

Leighton Asia is seeking a senior AI leader to build and guide an AI team focused on process optimization and applied machine learning in a Kuala Lumpur setting. The role involves defining AI roadmaps, adopting modern frameworks, and driving scalable data pipelines.

You will collaborate across operations, engineering, and commercial teams to embed AI capabilities into daily tools, while staying ahead of industry trends and ensuring responsible AI governance.

Responsibilities

• Build & Lead an AI Team: Recruit, mentor, and manage a team focused on AI-driven process optimization and applied machine learning.
• Define & Execute AI Strategy: Develop and implement AI roadmaps that support organizational goals and long-term transformation initiatives.
• Leverage Modern AI Frameworks: Utilize agentic AI systems, co-pilot-style automation, and enterprise-ready AI tools to streamline workflows and improve decision-making.
• Oversee AI Model Development: Guide design, development, and deployment of scalable AI models, solutions, and data pipelines.
• Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with operations, engineering, commercial, and other teams to integrate AI capabilities into day-to-day tools and processes.
• Benchmark External Advancements: Monitor and evaluate industry AI trends, bringing leading practices back into the organization.
• Governance & Alignment: Oversee alignment with group-level AI initiatives, ensuring responsible AI use, compliance, and scalable deployment frameworks.
• Innovation & Research: Lead proofs-of-concept, experiment with new methods, and ensure the organization remains at the forefront of AI adoption
