Job summary

Gear Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer in AI Model Training – Team Lead to supervise a skilled team in Kuala Lumpur. You will guide daily activities, mentor engineers, and ensure top quality AI training data and code aligned with project specs.

You will report on progress to clients and stakeholders, drive process improvements, and stay current with AI/ML trends. A strong leadership mindset and collaborative communication are required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in a coding or software development role with a focus on AI, machine learning, or data annotation.
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management position, ideally in a BPO or outsourcing environment.
• Familiarity with AI model training processes, including creation of training datasets and ML tech.
• Excellent leadership with ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills with data analysis and issue resolution.
• Experience with project management tools (Jira, Asana, Trello) is a plus.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of coders/developers on AI training data tasks, ensuring productivity and quality.
• Provide daily guidance, mentoring, and support to foster team growth and a positive environment.
• Conduct performance evaluations and deliver regular feedback for development.
• Organize shifts and tasks to ensure coverage and deadlines are met.
• Ensure AI training data and code meet strict quality standards for accuracy and efficiency.
• Review code and data to align with project specs; implement process improvements.
