Job summary

Pataney Restaurant in Kuching, Sarawak, invites applications for a full-time Kitchen Helper to support our busy kitchen. You will assist in food prep, maintain cleanliness, and help the cooking team during service to ensure smooth dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and develop skills in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure during service times.
• Reliability and punctuality in attendance.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices, or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning ingredients according to recipe specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, including regular cleaning of work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
• Support the cooking staff by gathering and arranging ingredients before service begins.
• Load and unload dishwashing machines and ensure all crockery and cutlery are properly cleaned and stored.
• Take out rubbish and recycling materials, maintaining hygiene standards throughout the kitchen.
• Assist with receiving and storing ingredients and supplies in appropriate areas.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to maintain health and safety standards.
• Support kitchen staff during busy service periods and respond promptly to requests.
• Help with basic food preparation tasks such as blanching vegetables, mixing ingredients and portioning items.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Kitchen Helper to join the team at Pastaney Restaurant in Kuching, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations and ensuring smooth service delivery. As a Kitchen Helper, you will be part of a dynamic culinary team, assisting in food preparation, maintaining kitchen standards, and contributing to the exceptional dining experience our guests enjoy. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and quality of our kitchen operations.
