Pataney Restaurant in Kuching, Sarawak, invites applications for a full-time Kitchen Helper to support our busy kitchen. You will assist in food prep, maintain cleanliness, and help the cooking team during service to ensure smooth dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and develop skills in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure during service times.
• Reliability and punctuality in attendance.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices, or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning ingredients according to recipe specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, including regular cleaning of work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
• Support the cooking staff by gathering and arranging ingredients before service begins.
• Load and unload dishwashing machines and ensure all crockery and cutlery are properly cleaned and stored.
• Take out rubbish and recycling materials, maintaining hygiene standards throughout the kitchen.
• Assist with receiving and storing ingredients and supplies in appropriate areas.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols to maintain health and safety standards.
• Support kitchen staff during busy service periods and respond promptly to requests.
• Help with basic food preparation tasks such as blanching vegetables, mixing ingredients and portioning items.
