Job summary

UOA Hospitality in Malaysia is seeking a Commis III to join its hotel kitchen team. You will assist in daily food preparation, following recipes, hygiene standards and service quality. The role provides hands-on support to the Chef and kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have at least a minimum qualification (SPM) or a Certificate in Culinary Arts, with willingness to learn and work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. No prior hotel experience required.

Qualifications

• SPM or Certificate in Culinary Arts preferred.
• Hotel/kitchen experience not required but an advantage.
• Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation per recipes, standards and Chef instructions.
• Perform basic prep tasks: wash, peel, cut, portion, and store ingredients.
• Support kitchen team for daily prep for restaurants, banquets, room service, and other hotel ops.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all prep areas, utensils, and workstations.
• Follow proper food handling, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Ensure proper labeling and storage of food items.
• Maintain mise en place for daily operations.
• Adhere to kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Work according to duty roster, including shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Report equipment, food quality or safety issues to Chef or Supervisor.
