Job summary

Sutera Sanctuary Lodges in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, seeks an experienced IT Manager to lead all information and communication technology operations on-site. You will develop strategies, manage IT budgets, and ensure cybersecurity, data integrity and service delivery across the lodge network and guest systems.

As a senior member of the management team, you will mentor IT staff, coordinate with vendors, and drive projects that improve operational efficiency and guest experiences while supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field.
• 7-10 years IT management experience, preferably in hospitality/service industry.
• Proven track record of leading IT teams and managing budgets.
• Strong knowledge of networks, servers, cloud systems and cybersecurity.
• Experience with hospitality software solutions.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to join our management team at Sutera Sanctuary Lodges in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a full-time position based on-site in Kota Kinabalu, where you will take a strategic leadership role overseeing all aspects of our information and communication technology infrastructure and operations. As IT Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our technology systems support our business objectives, enhance guest experiences and maintain the security and integrity of our digital assets. This role is pivotal to the success of our lodge operations and directly contributes to our competitive advantage in the hospitality sector.

Key responsibilities

• Developing and implementing comprehensive IT strategies and policies aligned with the lodge's business objectives and growth plans
• Managing and overseeing the IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases and cloud systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Leading a team of IT staff, providing technical direction, mentoring, performance management and professional development opportunities
• Managing IT budgets, procurement and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality service delivery
• Implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures, data protection protocols and compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
• Supporting guest-facing systems and property management software to enhance operational efficiency and guest satisfaction
• Overseeing regular system maintenance, updates, backups and disaster recovery planning to minimise downtime and data loss
• Troubleshooting complex technical issues and providing strategic solutions to support business continuity
• Collaborating with other departments to identify technology needs and implementing solutions that add value to lodge operations
• Staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to keep the lodge's IT capabilities competitive

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum 7-10 years of IT management experience, preferably in the hospitality or service industry
• Proven track record of leading and managing IT teams effectively
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud systems and cybersecurity best practices
• Experience with hospitality-specific software solutions
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of data protection regulations, compliance standards and industry security requirements
• Microsoft certifications (MCSE, MCSA) or equivalent professional certifications are advantageous
• Experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning is preferred
• Familiarity with virtualisation technologies and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solutions is a plus
