Responsible for analysing business requirements, banking processes and technology needs, and translating them into clear functional and technical requirements for IT delivery teams. The IT Business Analyst works closely with business stakeholders, Project Managers, Developers, Architects and Test Teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse and document business and system requirements for banking applications.
- Conduct workshops and interviews with business users and key stakeholders.
- Understand existing banking processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional requirements and system specifications.
- Prepare:
- Business Requirements Document (BRD)
- Functional Requirements Specification (FRS)
- User Stories
- Use Cases
- Process Flow Diagrams
- Business Rules
- Acceptance Criteria
- Analyse As-Is and To-Be processes and identify gaps.
- Work closely with Project Managers to define project scope, requirements and deliverables.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and Developers to ensure requirements are technically feasible.
- Work with Test Managers and Test Analysts to ensure requirements are testable and traceable.
- Review and validate test scenarios and UAT test cases.
- Support SIT and UAT activities.
- Clarify requirements and resolve functional issues raised during testing.
- Manage requirement changes and maintain requirements traceability throughout the project.
- Participate in defect triage and assist in determining whether reported issues are genuine defects or requirement gaps.
- Support production implementation and post-production validation.
- Prepare user documentation, operational procedures and training materials where required.
- Present requirements and project updates to business and technology stakeholders.

- Understanding of REST / SOAP APIs is beneficial.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps or similar tools.
- Experience creating process flows using Visio, Lucidchart or similar tools.
- Understanding of banking transaction flows and financial systems.
Key Responsibilities During Testing
The BA should be able to:
- Validate Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM).
- Support SIT and UAT.
- Clarify expected business behaviour to testers.
- Validate test data and expected results.
- Confirm whether defects meet business requirements.
- Support UAT sign-off.
- Assist with Go-Live readiness.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Finance or related field.
- 4–8+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst.
- Strong experience working on banking or financial-services projects.
- Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with both business and technical teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear IT specifications.
- Experience working in Agile and/or Waterfall project environments.
