Job summary

Hong Leong Bank is seeking a capable Software Engineer to own end-to-end lifecycle activities for banking applications in a wealth management context. You will engage in system analysis, design, development, reporting, and support while ensuring adherence to bank standards and regulatory requirements.

The role includes production support, monitoring, QA, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements and maintain system stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Retail Wealth Management, Private Banking, or Brokerage systems.
• Experience in Windows Server, UNIX Servers, OCP/Containers, Oracle DB / MySQL DB.
• Experience with Core Wealth Management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 application support with incident management.
• Monitor application performance, database health, and release deployments.
• Liaise with business users to define system requirements and propose software solutions.
• Prepare and conduct QA testing to ensure accurate and complete implementations.

Overview:

This role encompasses the end-to-end software development lifecycle for assigned banking applications, including system analysis, design, development, report generation, screen customization, and application support. Key responsibilities include implementing system enhancements to meet user functional specifications while maintaining strict adherence to bank standards for all documentation, processes, and methodologies to enable seamless future maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Production Support & Incident Management Application Support: Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for retail wealth management platforms (portfolio management systems, trading platforms, CRM tools, client portals). Incident Management: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve production incidents under tight timelines to minimize business disruption and meet strict SLAs. Provide expert advice for best solutions to production problems.
• Operations, Monitoring & Release Engineering System Monitoring: Proactively monitor application performance, database health, and automated end-of-day batch processing to identify and resolve bottlenecks. Release Management: Support the deployment of application patches, upgrades, and configuration changes during scheduled maintenance windows. Provide support during implementation of software and systems; liaise across departments for smooth deployment.
• Business Analysis & Systems Engineering Liaise with business users to define systems requirements. Provide options/alternatives to address business requirements and recommend software solutions. Analyze changes & impact on existing systems. Ensure amended and enhanced systems meet user functional requirement specifications. Decide technical approaches for systems enhancements and propose improvements for performance and stability.
• Quality Assurance (QA) & Testing Prepare, conduct, and review system tests to ensure accuracy, completeness, and problem-free implementation.
• Risk, Governance & Information Security Employ risk assessment methodology issued by the Information Security Department to build required business controls. Build appropriate controls into business application software to ensure stability, security, and reliability. Ensure all documentation, processes, and methodologies adhere to Bank standards. Maintain comprehensive knowledge base articles , standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system topology diagrams.
• Stakeholder Collaboration & Specialized Integration Collaboration & Escalation: Primary liaison between business units and L3 engineering/vendor teams for software bugs and infrastructure changes. AI & Conversational UX Support: Collaborate with AI developers and product teams to troubleshoot logic flows and enhance conversational user experience. Domain Knowledge Application: Apply deep functional understanding of wealth management concepts (portfolio rebalancing, trade lifecycles, market data feeds, corporate actions) and regulatory compliance (FINRA, SEC, MiFID II).

Skills & Experience We Are Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience

• 3 - 5 years of experience in requirement definition, design, software development life cycle, business analyst and implementation specifically within Retail Wealth Management, Private Banking, or Brokerage systems
• Providing application support for business application systems
• Experience in working with Windows Server, UNIX Servers, OCP/Containers, Oracle DB / MySQL DB.
• Working experience with Core Wealth Management systems is an added advantage

Special Skills

• Independent with good analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Experience using ITSM tools like Jira Service Desk or ServiceNow
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical financial professionals
