We are a custom software and back office systems developer. We are expanding our business operations outside of Malaysia, and are looking for a detail-oriented professional to support this journey. This role sits at the intersection of business development, regulatory compliance, and government relations — helping us understand what's required to establish, license, and staff offices in new markets. Strong reading, writing, and research skills matter more than a specific degree.
Key Responsibilities
Research and interpret the legal, regulatory, and licensing requirements for setting up business operations in target countries
Liaise with government agencies, investment promotion authorities, and free zone/economic zone offices on behalf of the company
Prepare documentation required for business registration, licensing, and investment incentive applications
Summarize findings from laws, regulations, and official guidance into clear, actionable reports for leadership
Track application timelines, follow up with relevant authorities, and manage correspondence
Support due diligence on local hiring, employment law basics, and office setup requirements
Coordinate with external legal counsel, consultants, or local advisors as needed
Maintain organized records of all applications, licenses, and regulatory correspondence
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field (other disciplines will be considered if experience is relevant)
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in similar context and work environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to read dense regulatory material and summarize it clearly
Comfortable liaising with government offices and official institutions
Strong research, organizational and people skills
Ability to manage multiple documentation processes simultaneously
Proficiency in English (additional languages relevant to Europe or the Middle East, e.g. Arabic, German, French, are a plus)
Preferred Experience (not mandatory)
Prior experience in legal support, compliance, business licensing, or government relations
Experience with company registration, investment incentive schemes, or free zone/economic zone applications
Exposure to international business setup or expatriate hiring processes
Familiarity with the regulatory environment in Europe and/or the Middle East
