Job summary

AFA PROJECT AND MANAGEMENT SERVICES SDN. BHD. seeks an experienced Inspector of Works to oversee construction site quality in Kuantan, Pahang.

The role focuses on compliance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards while coordinating with contractors and consultants on daily activities. The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering qualification and has at least 3 years in site inspection or quality control roles within civil/structural projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of construction works to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
• Monitor the quality of materials used on site and ensure they meet the specified standards and quality benchmarks.
• Document all site activities through site reports, photographs, and inspection records for project documentation and compliance purposes.
• Identify and report any defects, deviations, or non-conformances to the project management team and contractors promptly.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the construction process.
• Liaise between the contractor, project manager, and consultants to resolve site issues and clarify technical requirements.
• Verify that all statutory approvals and permits are in place before works commence.
• Monitor progress against the project schedule and report on any delays or variations.
• Maintain accurate records of all inspections, measurements, and test results for audit and verification purposes.
• Assist in the preparation of defect lists and snagging reports as works near completion.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Inspector of Works on a contract basis. This is a critical position based in Kuantan, Pahang, where you will oversee and monitor the quality of construction works and ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.

As Inspector of Works, you will play a vital role in maintaining project standards, protecting the interests of all stakeholders, and ensuring that construction activities progress efficiently and safely on site.

Key responsibilities:

Conduct daily inspections of construction works to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.

Monitor the quality of materials used on site and ensure they meet the specified standards and quality benchmarks.

Document all site activities through site reports, photographs, and inspection records for project documentation and compliance purposes.

Identify and report any defects, deviations, or non-conformances to the project management team and contractors promptly.

Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the construction process.

Liaise between the contractor, project manager, and consultants to resolve site issues and clarify technical requirements.

Verify that all statutory approvals and permits are in place before works commence.

What we're looking for:

Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Minimum 3 years of experience as an Inspector of Works or in a similar site inspection and quality control role within civil or structural engineering projects.

Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and relevant Malaysian building standards and regulations.

Proficiency in reading and engineering drawings.

Excellent attention to detail and a systematic approach to quality assurance and site inspection.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with contractors, consultants, and project teams.

Experience with site documentation, inspection reporting, and record-keeping.

Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to site locations as required.

Familiarity with construction management software and digital reporting tools is advantageous.
