Ann Joo Resources Berhad is seeking an Inspector of Works to oversee quality control and technical oversight of construction projects. You will review daily activities against approved drawings and method statements, ensuring materials meet approval before use on site.
You will inspect workmanship across structural, architectural, and M&E installations, verify adherence to drawings, document test results, and coordinate with contractors and authorities to keep projects on schedule.
This role involves comprehensive quality control and technical oversight of construction work. You will review daily construction activities against approved shop drawings, method statements, and British/Malaysian Standards (MS), with responsibility for catching errors early and preventing substandard work from proceeding. You will inspect incoming materials, witness laboratory and on-site testing, and ensure all materials meet approval requirements before use on site.
Key responsibilities
Monitor daily progress and track construction activities to ensure work matches the project timeline
Inspect workmanship including structural, architectural, or mechanical and electrical (M&E) installations at each phase of construction
Verify that builders strictly adhere to official contract drawings and method statements
Inspect delivered building materials to confirm they match approved sample lists and specifications
Monitor on-site material tests (like concrete cube tests or soil compaction) and document results
Identify building defects or poor workmanship and instruct contractors to rectify issues
Fill out daily site diaries, logs, and inspection check-sheets
Update superiors and consultants regularly on site conditions, delays, or safety concerns
Join technical and site coordination meetings with contractors and local authorities
Help consultants verify actual work done on-site for contractor progress claims
