Responsibilities

• Design, build, secure, and optimize network infrastructure for performance and scalability.

• Ensure service SLAs, monitor performance, and implement improvements.

Job description

The Infrastructure & Technology, Engineer requires excellent knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies specifically in the areas of servers and networks. This role requires a person who is detail-oriented, proficient with technologies and hardware, and who flourishes in high-pressure environments. Infrastructure & Technology engineers generally work with numerous software programs, clients, and other technical staff, and often need to do field analysis and maintenance. Their responsibilities include installing, upgrading and improving operating environments, creating repair strategies, and providing technical support and training for users.

Successful infrastructural engineers should be have good communication and collaboration skills, excellent analytical, problem solving, and time-management skills, and extensive knowledge of data laws. Ideal candidate will also have experience in project management and giving professional presentations.

Responsibilities:

1. Network Design & Implementation:

• Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance network infrastructure.
• Deploy and configure routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.
• Ensure proper installation and configuration of LAN, WAN, and other network segments.

2. System Administration:

• Administer, configure, and maintain servers (Windows/Linux) and enterprise systems.
• Manage virtualization platforms
• Oversee and manage backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.

3. Infrastructure Management:

• Monitor network and system performance and implement optimizations.
• Conduct regular maintenance, patching, and system upgrades.
• Implement and enforce security measures to protect network and system integrity.

4. Service Delivery:

• Ensure that infrastructure services meet established SLAs and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with service delivery teams to design, implement, and support service management processes (e.g., incident management, change management, problem management).
• Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for service delivery.
• Monitor service delivery performance and recommend improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency.

5. Project Delivery:

• Participate in network and infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring project milestones and timelines are met.
• Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Develop project documentation, including plans, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
• Ensure projects adhere to compliance, quality, and performance standards.
• Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress, risks, and mitigations.
• Manage and allocate resources effectively, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

6. Troubleshooting & Support:

• Troubleshoot and resolve network and system issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Provide technical support to internal teams and customer directly

7. Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and infrastructure documentation.
• Prepare reports on system performance, network issues, and solutions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support project goals.
• Coordinate with vendors for procurement and support of hardware/software.

Core Competency:

• Basic knowledge in enterprise systems, server operating systems and network operating systems
• Basic knowledge in managing computer and server hardware
• Basic knowledge in computer power and network cabling
• Basic knowledge in configuring router, switch and firewall (CISCO, JUNIPER, FORTINET, FIBERSTORE, DELL, HP, PALO ALTO, BARRACUDA)
• Basic knowledge in managing network equipment and server hardware
• Basic knowledge in firewall configuration, setup and management
• Good working skills with CISCO/Juniper/Fortinet/Fiberstore/Dell/HP/Palo Alto/ Barracuda/Sophos/ Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project
• Experience terminating and patching Cat 5e, Cat 6, and fiber a plus.
• Knowledge of and proven skills using various test sets including power system multi-meters, cable test sets (copper and fiber basic test gear), fiber test sets (OTDR fiber tester).
• Good working skills with Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project
