Job summary

Johnson Matthey Plc in Kuala Lumpur seeks an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to support infrastructure remotely, patch servers monthly, and assist in incident management. You will collaborate with cross-cultural teams and external partners to deliver IT services per JM standards.

The role requires VMware, Windows Server, cloud experience (Azure/AWS), Linux knowledge, Veeam, and PowerShell in a Level 2 support context, with ITIL awareness and a 24x5 shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Able to work shift (24x5) and standby weekends.
• Holder of a recognised IT qualification.
• Experience in virtualization (VMware), Windows Server OS, Cloud (Azure, AWS); Linux knowledge (RHEL/SUSE) is a plus.
• Experience in Veeam and PowerShell in a Level 2 operational role.
• Experience in Microsoft monthly patching.
• Awareness of ITIL principles.
• Knowledge of planning, installation, monitoring, troubleshooting and decommissioning of IT services.

Responsibilities

Vacancy: Infrastructure Operations Engineer (Level 2-Rotational Shift)

The role

As a Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will help drive our goals by:

• To support infrastructure remotely and work with cross-cultural team
• To work with JM employees and other external organisations to complete projects
• To perform Microsoft monthly patching activities for all servers
• To take part in the Major Incident Management process, which may mean out of hours participation in incident resolution and service restoration.
• To support L3 teams in updating documentations and keep it up to date in line with JM standards and policies.
• To analyse, troubleshooting and implementing approved and standardized resolutions.
• To carry out any other duties within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed

Requirements for the role

• Able to work shift (24x5) and based in the office and standby occasionally on weekends
• Holder of a recognised IT qualification
• Operational experience in virtualization e.g. VMWare, Windows Server OS, Cloud Computing e.g Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additional knowledge in Linux (RHEL & SUSE) would be added advantage.
• Operational experience in Veeam, PowerShell preferably in a Level 2 role providing day to day operational support.
• Good experience in performing Microsoft monthly patching activity.
• Awareness of ITIL principles
• Working knowledge of planning, installation, on-going management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of IT services and technologies.
