Job summary

First Point Group and a Western-headquartered data centre platform are appointing a Mechanical Lead for a major hyperscale greenfield project in Malaysia. You will own the engineering design from concept through commissioning and handover, serving as the client’s technical authority.

Based in Malaysia, you will lead a regional engineering team, review consultant submissions and drive governance to ensure resilience, operability and scalable performance of a large data centre campus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in data centre engineering and MEP design.
• Ability to review, interrogate and challenge consultant MEP submissions.
• Understanding of controls systems and BMS integration.
• Experience managing engineering consultants and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead data centre engineering design activities from concept through detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Act as the client's technical representative throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and challenge consultant design submissions to ensure quality and compliance.
• Drive engineering governance and adherence to applicable standards.
• Ensure designs deliver resilience, efficiency and operability.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary activities across consultants, contractors and internal teams.
• Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Support construction delivery and commissioning activities.
