Job summary

Sankyu Southeast Asia is seeking a Safety Trainer to develop training materials and deliver safety, confined space, and technical training across sites in Malaysia. The role includes evaluating candidates and feeding results back to clients, with possible overseas travel.

You will build HSE documentation, coordinate audits, conduct incident investigations, and support management in HSE meetings and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in safety training and HSE programs.
• Strong communication and teaching skills.
• Ability to travel for training assignments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare teaching materials (curriculum, profile sheets, training plans, textbooks, PowerPoint, video creation).
• Conduct training and evaluate candidates with feedback to clients.
• Improve training reviews and coordinate with HSE experts across sister companies.
• Lead Safety and Confined Space training; deliver other trainings as required.
• Deliver training and travel for assignments, including overseas if needed.
• Develop HSE documentation and reports to ISO standards.
• Coordinate audits, investigate root causes of HSE complaints, and report findings.
• Investigate accidents and near misses and propose corrective actions.
• Assist with Job Safety Analysis and inspect hazardous job activities.
• Assist management in HSE meetings and present safety updates.
• Oversee monthly HSE reporting and supervise assistant trainers.

Job description

1. Preparation of teaching materials (curriculum, profile sheet, training plan, textbook, PowerPoint, Video creation, etc).

2. Conducting effective training and appropriate evaluation of candidates to feedback the training results to clients.

3. Improvement of training reviewing after training and extract issues and take improvement measures for the next time etc. (communication with HSE experts from each sister companies)

4. The main responsibility is Safety Training and Confined Space Training. However, other technical, skills, and soft skills training will be conducted as required.

5. Delivery training and business travel (including overseas assignments, if required) are also part of the role.

Safety Active

1. Develop all the required documentation, operations checks and report for the HSE Management System to be compliant with ISO standards, including corrective and preventive measures.

2. Monitor HSE controllers and coordinate their audit schedule Investigate the root cause HSE complaints put forward by staff members and report the result to the Department Manager.

3. Coordinate and participate in the investigation of accident and near issues.

4. Audit work being performed with ‘Safety Work Permit’.

5. Assist with the implementation of Job Safety Analysis and inspect job site activities during particularly difficult on hazardous work state.

6. Assist Company management in the presentation HSE meetings.

7. Review and analysis accidents and near miss incidents and making corrective action recommendations.

8. Ensure regular emergency respond exercise and drill are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness of emergency response improvements.

9. Preparing monthly HSE report, statistics and presentations related to HSE performance.

10. Guidance and management of work for Assistant Trainers who are subordinates.

11. Special Assignments / Task Designated by Management Director and Department Manager.
