Job summary

City University Malaysia is seeking an experienced HR Operations Lead to manage onboarding, employee records, payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance.

You will lead the HR operations team, serve as the primary contact for HR queries, and drive end-to-end HR processes across the university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HRM/BA or related field.
• 5–8 years progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Experience in education sector or higher education institutions preferred.
• Strong exposure to HR operations, recruitment, payroll, employee relations, and performance management.
• In-depth knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act, labor laws, and compliance.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and HR reporting tools.
• Understanding of end-to-end HR operations, documentation, training & development, and succession planning.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage with academic and non-academic staff.
• Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).

• Support internal audits and manage risk mitigation related to HR practices

• Handle HR operations from end to end
• Manage HR operations team and HR operations daily operational work
• Demonstrate expertise in HR policies and practices

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
• Minimum 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role
• Experience in the education sector / higher education institutions (private or public universities, colleges, or schools) will be added advantage. Other industry with solid HR Operations experience are welcome.
• Strong exposure to HR operations, recruitment, payroll, employee relations, and performance management
• In-depth knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act, labor laws, and statutory compliance
• Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and HR reporting tools
• Good understanding of HR operations end-to-end process, HR documentations, training & development, and succession planning
