Job description

Our client, a company in Malaysia, is seeking a HR Executive to join their team!

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of a broad HR portfolio, from recruitment and employee relations to compliance and foreign worker management. The role offers strong exposure to strategic HR initiatives while working closely with leadership to align people practices with business goals, making it ideal for someone looking to deepen their generalist HR expertise and step into a role with real influence over company culture and operations.

What you'll be doing?
  • Driving recruitment and workforce planning: Lead hiring strategy, workforce planning, and onboarding processes, including the onboarding of foreign workers, to build a strong and capable team.
  • Championing employee relations: Manage conflict resolution, employee engagement programs, and culture-building initiatives that help foster a positive and connected workplace.
  • Developing policy and ensuring compliance: Develop HR policies and ensure adherence to labour laws including the Employment Act 1955 and Industrial Relations Act, while proactively managing HR-related risks.
  • Overseeing foreign worker management: Manage foreign worker recruitment, permits, hostel arrangements, and renewals, while liaising with government agencies and service providers on labour matters and monitoring worker welfare and accommodation standards.
  • Managing compensation and benefits: Conduct salary benchmarking, administer employee benefits, and provide oversight of payroll processes.
  • Supporting learning and development: Coordinate learning and development programs, performance reviews, and career pathing initiatives to help employees grow within the company.
  • Upholding compliance and governance: Ensure compliance with Malaysian laws and internal company policies, support audits (such as ISO, Halal, Safety, and JTKSM), and maintain accurate HR records and reporting.
  • Running day-to-day HR operations: Oversee payroll, attendance, leave administration, and the HRIS system, while preparing monthly HR reports and manpower analytics.
  • Leading the HR team: Provide guidance and support to the HR team, helping to build a collaborative and high-performing department.
Who are they looking for?
  • Educational background: A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred; a master's degree would be an added advantage.
  • Relevant experience: Candidates with around 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience are encouraged to apply, particularly those who have handled a broad range of HR functions.
  • Knowledge of employment law: A solid understanding of Malaysian employment law and HR best practices is important, given the role's focus on compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Leadership and communication skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are valued, as the role involves working closely with employees at all levels and guiding the HR team.
  • Discretion and attention to detail: The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion is important, along with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Payroll exposure: Prior experience in payroll processing would be an added advantage, though not essential.
