Job summary

Mercure Kota Kinabalu City Centre is seeking a diligent Housekeeping Attendant to clean and maintain all public areas, ensuring floors, glass, and fixtures meet high standards. You will replenish restrooms, assist guests, and support a safe hotel environment.

The role requires physical fitness, basic English/local language communication, and flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays in a busy hotel setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum primary/secondary education preferred.
• Prior housekeeping or cleaning experience in hotel or commercial setting is an advantage.
• Physically fit and able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods.
• Basic communication skills (English and/or local language).
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all public areas including lobby, reception, corridors, lifts, staircases, public toilets, back-of-house areas, offices, and staff facilities.
• Ensure floors are swept, mopped, polished, or vacuumed according to standards.
• Clean glass panels, doors, mirrors, handrails, and fixtures regularly.
• Empty trash bins and replace liners in all assigned areas.
• Replenish supplies in public restrooms (toilet paper, soap, hand towels, amenities).
• Follow hotel hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly.
• Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards immediately.
• Ensure wet floor signs and safety notices are placed when required.
• Greet guests politely and assist with basic inquiries when approached.
• Maintain a professional, friendly, and helpful attitude at all times.
• Respect guest privacy and hotel confidentiality.
• Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor machines, and trolleys properly.
• Ensure cleaning tools are cleaned, stored, and maintained after use.
• Monitor stock levels and inform supervisor when supplies need replenishment.
• Work closely with housekeeping team and other departments.
• Attend training sessions and briefings as required.
• Comply with hotel policies, SOPs, and brand standards.
