Job summary

Hilton in Kedah, Malaysia seeks a seasoned Chief Engineer to lead all hotel systems, plant and equipment, optimizing the POMEC budget while delivering guest comfort and asset protection.

You will oversee safety, regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and a high-performing team across facilities, with a strong focus on service excellence and collaboration with all hotel departments.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or relevant certification.
• 10+ years in hotel/building services; 5+ years as Chief/Assistant Chief Engineer in a 5‑star hotel.
• Trade-qualified in Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing/Gas Fitting.
• Flexible schedule; available 24/7 for emergencies.
• Specialized knowledge in HVAC, water treatment, hydraulics, chillers, electronics, lighting, elevators, fire safety.
• Experience maintaining all hotel building services.

Responsibilities

• Direct the functionality, safety, and compliance of buildings, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, life safety, and grounds.
• Perform facility inspections and supervise maintenance and repairs of electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems.
• Direct capital projects and property rehabilitations—scheduling, budgeting, bidding, and permitting—while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Ensure routine maintenance and repairs are assigned, verified, and documented in the property maintenance management system.
• Communicate with government officials to maintain permits, inspections, and safety standards.
• Drive engagement and retention through performance management and professional development.
• Ensure clear communication between Engineering and all hotel areas, fostering collaboration.
• Maintain high guest service, privacy, and comfort.
• Manage Lightstay platform, drive sustainability projects, and monitor asset efficiencies.
