Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad is seeking a dedicated cook/cook assistant to prepare meals for hospital patients, ensuring quality, portioning, and compliance with dietary guidelines. The role requires teamwork, strong communication, and attention to detail within a hospital kitchen environment.

Experience in hospital dietary services is an advantage. You will contribute to meal production, plate presentation, and sanitation while supporting the HOS in inventory management and catering projects.

Qualifications

• SPM or equivalent education; culinary training is a plus.
• 2 years’ experience as cook or cook assistant.
• Experience in hospital dietary services is an extra advantage.
• Familiarity with food industries.
• Knowledge of cuisine and fundamental culinary skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across functions.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items ensuring quality and portioning according to daily production list.
• Arrange food items attractively on plates/platters and assemble portions per menu.
• Maintain food temperatures during prep and service per guidelines.
• Store and rotate food items per guidelines; dispose of expired products.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation; manage food transport and supplies.
• Assist HOS in managing food inventory and inform on par levels.
• Assist with food preparation for catering projects; supervise in absence of chef.
• Report kitchen malfunctions and inspect items/equipment regularly.
