Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment firm, is partnering with a leading organisation in the Information Technology sector to hire a Head of IT Operations & Infrastructure Management. This opportunity is based in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Position Overview
This role will lead the strategy, governance, and operational management of the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available technology services. it will drive infrastructure modernisation, operational excellence, and technology resilience to support critical business operations and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Infrastructure Strategy & Governance
- Develop and execute the IT infrastructure road map, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Establish governance frameworks for IT operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Define and enforce best practices for infrastructure management, cloud computing, disaster recovery, and operational resilience.
- Drive infrastructure transformation initiatives to support organisational growth and digital enablement.
2. Network & Cloud Management
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimisation of enterprise network architecture.
- Manage cloud infrastructure environments, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of IT systems and services.
- Lead data centre operations, including storage, backup, recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
3. IT Service Management & Operations
- Implement IT service management best practices to support efficient and reliable operations.
- Monitor infrastructure and system performance, identifying optimisation opportunities and operational improvements.
- Ensure timely resolution of incidents and service disruptions while minimising business impact.
- Lead technology change and release management activities to ensure smooth implementation of new solutions.
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and key partners.
- Oversee procurement activities, contract management, and service level performance.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to ensure infrastructure services support organisational priorities.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing infrastructure and operations team.
- Provide technical leadership across infrastructure architecture, cloud services, operations, and technology governance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Support professional development and capability-building initiatives across the team.
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in IT Infrastructure, IT Operations, Cloud Services, or Technology Management roles.
- Proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure environments and enterprise technology operations.
- Strong experience managing technology vendors, commercial agreements, and outsourced service providers.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex technology initiatives within business-critical environments.
Technical / Functional Expertise
- Strong expertise in enterprise infrastructure management, network architecture, and cloud computing.
- Experience managing data centres, backup and recovery solutions, and business continuity programmes.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server, database management, and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
- Experience implementing IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and operational governance practices.
- Knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, ISO/IEC 20000, ISO 22301, ISO 31000, TOGAF, IT Asset Management (ITAM), and related governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud architecture best practices across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience managing infrastructure security, operational resilience, and risk management initiatives.
- Strong understanding of network technologies, enterprise systems, and high-availability architectures.
