Job summary

Faraday Search is seeking a Head of Corporate Procurement for the Penang factory to lead the commodity management and procurement leadership teams, aligning strategies with European counterparts and reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer.

The role drives cost savings through price negotiations, supplier qualification, and value engineering, while maintaining an optimal supplier portfolio and monitoring performance. You will implement SOPs, coordinate audits, and manage a team of 20+.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Direct team management experience of 15+ headcount.
• Good knowledge of the distribution market and/or electronics manufacturing industry.

Job description

My client is a leading Electronics Manufacturing Services company with factories located in Malaysia, and Europe. They are now seeking to hire a Head of Corporate Procurement, based at their Penang factory.The position will report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer.

Commodity Management

Lead the commodity team and procurement leadership team in developing commodity strategies.

Collaborate with European counterparts to align overall commodity strategies.

Cost Saving

Drive the commodity team in price negotiations.

Drive and support localization initiatives.

Coordinate Value Engineering programs to reduce costs.

Monitor PPV and define corrective actions when required.

Coordinate customer-driven, KAM-driven, and project-based cost reduction programs.

Review BOM pricing and ensure competitive pricing is negotiated before KAMs submit customer quotations.

Lead and drive Strategic Sourcing Initiative.

Lead and support the qualification process for new suppliers.

Set up new suppliers, including reviewing and negotiating agreements.

Maintain an optimal supplier portfolio, including supplier consolidation activities.

Continuously monitor supplier performance and risks.

Drive continuous improvement in supply quality.

General Management

Work with the CPO to establish, improve, and implement SOPs and Corporate Procurement policies, and Group wide strategic initiatives.

Work with KAMs on customer feedback related to procurement matters.

Compile Corporate Procurement statistics and reports.

Represent the department to other departments and coordinate company-wide programs.

Represent Corporate Procurement during audits, including customer and ISO audits.

Lead procurement process improvement projects.

Manage a team of more than 20 employees.

Technical Requirements

Knowledge of key commodity markets and sourcing channels in EMS

Understanding of commodity construction, manufacturing processes, and cost structures.

Commodity Management experience with component suppliers; OEM or Distribution.

Education and Experience

Master/Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 15 years of experience in procurement or sourcing within contract manufacturing or a related industry.

Good knowledge of the distribution market and/or electronics manufacturing industry.

Understanding of business economics.
