Job summary

Standard Chartered is seeking a seasoned leader to manage GLS operations across multiple countries, ensuring quality service while controlling risk. You will drive strategy, governance, and delivery within the Global Lending Services framework.

The role requires strong people leadership, procurement of resources, and cross-country collaboration. You will foster an open, compliant culture, manage budgets, and ensure SLAs and governance processes are in place.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Ability to read, write, and speak Mandarin would be an added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of experience within the Financial Services industry.
• Strong understanding of lending products, banking operations, and related processes.
• At least 2 years of people management or team leadership experience.
• Experience in Banking Operations and/or Finance functions is preferred.
• Sound knowledge of risk management principles, including the ability to identify, assess, monitor, control, and mitigate risks.
• Good understanding of governance, oversight, and control frameworks, with the ability to evaluate their effectiveness and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong passion for people leadership, coaching, and team development.
• Ability to provide clear direction, foster collaboration, and drive team performance towards business objectives.]

Responsibilities

• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.
• Employ, engage and retain high quality people such that GLS is skilled and experienced to deliver its obligations.
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development; ensure that direct reports are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
• Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
• Promote and embed a culture of openness, trust and risk awareness, where ethical, legal, regulatory and policy compliant conduct is the norm.
• Ensure effective succession and back-up plan in place for all key positions.
• Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in GBS Malaysia/Financial Markets/Global Lending Services. Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; Multiple functions (double hats); Participate & encourage participation in CSR Initiatives
