Job summary

SMEC (an SJ Group company) in Kuala Lumpur seeks a civil/environmental engineer to support coastal structures design, land reclamation, and related site investigations. You will collaborate with Executive Engineer and Design Manager to interpret results and prepare plans for local and overseas projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering recognised by regulatory bodies.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in design of reclamation projects is an advantage.
• Fresh graduates or engineers early in their career are welcome to apply.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Team player and able to multi-task.
• Discipline, self-motivated and resourceful.
• Well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Proficiency in engineering software such as Plaxis, Geostudio, StaadPro, Prokon will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in planning & design works for civil engineering projects (e.g. land reclamation, port construction and other coastal structures) for local and/or overseas
• Assist the Executive Engineer / Design Manager to carry out: plan for site investigation and result interpretation
• Civil and Structural, Environmental, and Geotechnical design and analysis for coastal structures such as quay wall, port, jetty, revetment and land reclamation
• Prepare technical calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications as assigned.
• Managing subcontracts (soil investigation contract, Accredited Checker contract, biodiversity contract etc.)
• Supervise both design and/or site work
• Ensure all engineering works comply with all relevant statutory standards, regulations and Codes of Practice
• Support on pursue project: assist in Tender submissions

• Prepare technical calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications as assigned.
• Managing subcontracts (i.e. soil investigation contract, Accredited Checker contract, biodiversity contract etc.)
• Supervise both design and/or site work
