Job summary

SMEC Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer to assist planning and design for coastal projects, including land reclamation and port works. You will support the Executive Engineer in site investigations and contribute to C&S, environmental, and geotechnical analyses.

Responsibilities include preparing calculations, drawings, and specifications; managing subcontracts; supervising design and site activities; and aiding in tender submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Team player, able to multi-task.
• Disciplined, self-motivated and resourceful.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Proficiency in engineering software (Plaxis, Geostudio, StaadPro, Prokon) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and design for civil engineering projects (e.g. land reclamation, port construction, coastal structures) for local or overseas sites.
• Assist Executive Engineer/Design Manager with site investigation planning and result interpretation.
• Perform C&S, Environmental, and Geotechnical design and analysis for coastal structures (quay walls, ports, jetties, revetments, land reclamation).
• Prepare technical calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications as assigned.
• Manage subcontracts (soil investigation, Accredited Checker, biodiversity, etc.).
• Supervise design and/or site work and ensure compliance with standards and codes of practice.
• Support tender submissions and project pursuit.

Job Description

• Assist the team in planning & design works for civil engineering projects (e.g. land reclamation, port construction and other coastal structures) for local and/or overseas
• Assist the Executive Engineer / Design Manager to carry out: plan for site investigation and result interpretation
• Civil and Structural (C&S), Environmental, and Geotechnical design and analysis for coastal structures such as quay wall, port, jetty, revetment and land reclamation (i.e. deep and shallow foundation, temporary and permanent retaining system, soil improvement, instrumentation, etc.)
• Prepare technical calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications as assigned.
• Managing subcontracts (i.e. soil investigation contract, Accredited Checker contract, biodiversity contract etc.)
• Supervise both design and/or site work
• Ensure all engineering works comply with all relevant statutory standards, regulations and Codes of Practice
• Support on pursue project: assist in Tender submissions

Job Specification

• Bachelor Degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering recognised by regulatory bodies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Team player and able to multi-task
• Discipline, self-motivated and resourceful
• Well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite of Software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.)
• Proficiency in engineering software such as Plaxis, Geostudio, StaadPro, Prokon etc. will be advantageous
• Contract: 1 Year
• Location: SMEC Kuala Lumpur
• Minimum 2 years of experience in design of reclamation projects is an advantages.
